I’ve been slipping beer commercials into the Lumpy Gravy Radio Show for some time now. Here’s a few of my found commercials: six for Pabst Blue Ribbon, two for Schlitz, and one each for Ballantine and Schaefer. The latter two came from some classic Jean Shepherd shows from the 1960s; the others are from classic radio shows from the 1950s and 1960s.

Sycko had an evil thought the other night and doing an internet search, discovered the most excellent Black Mass on the KPFA history site. Black Mass was an excellent horror/fantasy radio show that is credited with keeping classic radio theater alive in the 1960s. The show was a collaboration between radio dramatist Erik Bauserfield and John Whiting, KPFA’s production director.
The Black Mass presented radio theater using the classic works of Edgar Allan Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, H.P. Lovecraft, and many others. To fans of classic radio, these shows are highly recommended and worth a listen.
