Our New Year’s Eve special live with the Bowling League on Area 51 was a great success, and a good time was had by all. Reasonable shortwave conditions prevailed most of the evening, with the signal here in Maryland coming back into full force in the middle of the evening. The word got out to the internet crowd as well as we broke all previous listener records on our internet stream.
Thanks to the programmers who made this happen, and special thanks to Allan for letting us run on WBCQ 5.110 MHz shortwave until 1 AM eastern time.
Here are the links:
6PM: The Lumpy Gravy Radio Show started off with a lively warm-up for the evening’s festivities.
7PM: Radio Jamba International presented a Rastafarian Pink Floyd special, featuring a complete rendition of the Dark Side of the Moon.
8PM: Grits Radio featuring live phone calls from the listeners’ most memorable drinking stories, accompanied by the some of the best drinking songs ever recorded.
9PM: Voice of the Lost Discs, featuring Jim E. Night and Chesty, returned to the airwaves with a strikingly deep playlist.
10PM: Liquid Radio lost his car keys earlier in the evening and almost didn’t make it to join us, but fortunately he came on with a great impromptu mix of techno and dance music.
11PM: Sycko Radio and his charming friend Red entertained us leading up to and past the New Year’s countdown with a unique free form mix.
Midnight: Voice of the Bowling League rounded up the festivities with some audio contributions from some of our friends, including a great leap second piece by Rev. Yukon Jack.
